Recalibrating the mind

When powerful emotions become overwhelming and it is hard to think about or focus attention, it is time to RECALIBRATE! Concentrate on your mental stop sign. You remember the one you designed to stop unwanted thoughts and slow down. Take a deep breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Read the sign out loud, STOP. Take a literal or figural step back. Scan yourself. Am I hungry…am I thirsty…hot…cold…what am I doing right now…what am i thinking about…what am i suppose to be doing…what am i suppose to be thinking about. Take another deep breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel your self RECALIBRATE as you take a few more deep breathes.
